Artist Statement

Maddie's work, over the years of its development, has found its voice in ecofeminist discourse. From her photography to watercolors, the techniques she has accrued through years as a student have given her the skill to intellectually process and express ideas across a variety of mediums. Her collections are driven by the ideas of intersectionality that exist between women and the earth in both aspects of treatment, feeling, space and  their place in current American politics. Her work uses light, gestural patterns and the human body to express her feelings as a women in the above mentioned space.
